The second Heart of San Miguel (El Corazón de San Miguel) awards event recently took place, celebrating well-known people who promote San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and other countries.
This year’s list of award recipients included golfer Lorena Ochoa, photographer Spencer Tunick, radio announcer Fernanda Familiar, film director Gaz Alazraki, Argentinean singer Laureano Brizuela, Filip Lein–who received an award for his local anti-graffiti program, and Secretary of Tourism Fernando Olivera.
The award, shown here replicated by Tunick, Alazraki and mayor Mauricio Trejo, was designed by artist Alcides Fortes, and is a copper sculpture of two hands forming a heart, which also symbolizes the unity of Sanmiguelenses.
A press conference followed the event at the Rosewood San Miguel, where Olivera announced that Aeroméxico would soon be hosting intra-national regional flights out of San Miguel’s recently expanded airport with flights to Monterrey, Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos.
And for you fashionista, the director in Mexico for Tommy Hilfiger said that the firm is working to have a space designated for high-fashion boutiques in San Miguel de Allende. We have arrived!
