Cuba es Cultura en San Miguel!

The Cuban Culture Festival is underway in three cities of the Mexican state of Guanajuato, attracting large audiences to the annual performances.  While our capital of  Guanajuato and nearby Dolores Hidalgo also host the festival, San Miguel de Allende is alive with the sights and sounds of Cuba!

The Festival’s agenda includes a large variety of music, cinema, literature, craftwork, and Cuban dances.  This 11th edition of the event, running until March 16, is dedicated to the Cuban Damaso Perez Prado, King of Mambo, who lived for many years in Mexico.

The festival was opened in San Miguel de Allende by the Cuban ambassador to Mexico, Dagoberto Rodriguez, and its activities included the “Cuba es Cultura” (Cuba is Culture) conference, overseen by the charge d’affaires at the Cuban embassy, Fidel Antonio Orta.

Concerts by pianist and composer Daniel Herrera with his La Corte orchestra, and Los Manglares de Cuba band, as well as a dance exhibit by Sofia y Everardo, of the Mexican Latin salsa studio school, were also carried out.
